Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta)
The Sago Palm, scientifically known as Cycas revoluta, is a slow-growing ornamental plant from the ancient Cycad family, prized for its bold, symmetrical form and lush foliage. Despite its name, it is not a true palm. The plant typically grows to a height of 60 cm to 1.2 m with a spread of up to 1.5 m. It features a stout, woody trunk covered in rough brown bark, topped with a striking crown of stiff, feathery, dark green leaves that can reach up to 1.5 m in length. Sago Palm is highly resilient and adapts well to a range of growing conditions, from full sun to partial shade, and various soil types. Its dramatic appearance makes it a popular focal point in gardens and landscapes. However, all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested and should be kept away from pets and children.
