The Olive Tree, scientifically known as Olea Europea, is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean region and widely valued for both its ornamental beauty and culinary importance. In natural conditions, it can grow up to 10 meters tall, while dwarf varieties usually reach a manageable height of 1.5 to 2.5 meters. The tree is characterized by its gnarled trunk, twisting branches, and narrow, silvery-green oblong leaves that give it a timeless and elegant appearance.
In spring, the Olive Tree produces small, creamy-white, lightly fragrant flowers that later develop into oval-shaped fruits. These fruits mature to a deep purple-black color in autumn and are harvested for olive oil and table olives, which are widely used in cooking, cosmetics, and traditional medicine. Olive Trees are slow-growing, long-lived, and highly resilient, thriving best in warm, sunny locations with well-draining soil. Once established, they are drought-tolerant and require minimal maintenance, making them an excellent choice for gardens, patios, and landscapes.
