Gardenia, scientifically known as Gardenia Jasminoides, is a small evergreen shrub native to China and Japan and a member of the Rubiaceae family. Growing up to 3 ft (about 90 cm) tall and 2 ft (60 cm) wide, it is a popular houseplant valued for its glossy, deep green, oval-shaped leaves and large, double-petaled white flowers. The blooms are highly fragrant, filling indoor spaces with a sweet, intoxicating scent.

This plant thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers moist, well-draining soil. While relatively easy to maintain, Gardenia requires careful attention to watering: overwatering should be avoided, and the soil should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings. With proper care, it makes a stunning and aromatic addition to indoor gardens.
