Variegated Agave (Agave Americana Marginata)
Variegated Agave, commonly known as the Variegated Century Plant and scientifically called Agave americana marginata, is a striking succulent native to Mexico and the southwestern United States. Known for its dramatic rosette of thick, fleshy leaves, the plant features green foliage with creamy yellow margins. Each leaf ends in a sharp spine and has smaller spines along the edges, giving it a bold, architectural appearance.
A slow-growing plant, Variegated Agave can reach up to 6 ft (1.8 m) in height and 8 ft (2.4 m) in width. Highly drought- and heat-tolerant, it thrives in arid climates and requires minimal watering and fertilization, making it exceptionally low-maintenance. In summer, mature plants produce a towering flower stalk that can reach up to 30 ft (9 m) tall, topped with clusters of yellow-green flowers that create a dramatic focal point.
