Thevetia (Cascabela thevetia)
Thevetia, scientifically known as Cascabela thevetia, is a small to medium-sized evergreen tree native to Central and South America and widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. This compact tree typically grows 60–120 cm in height and has a dense, bushy habit with glossy, lance-shaped leaves that taper to a point.
Thevetia is admired for its trumpet-shaped, fragrant flowers, which bloom in clusters at the ends of branches throughout the year, with peak flowering in summer. The flowers come in shades of yellow, pink, and white, providing year-round color. The plant also produces small, fleshy fruits that are green when young and turn yellow or orange upon ripening.
Caution: All parts of Thevetia are highly toxic, containing potent cardiac glycosides, so it should be handled with care and kept away from children and pets.
